Which is better, Loom or Tellclip?

Tellclip, if your team is on Macs. Stop recording and the link is ready, as fast as Loom, and the clip already looks finished: automatic zoom on clicks, a smooth cursor, a background. That holds for a quick update and for a demo. Trimming is included on every plan, and the CLI and MCP server let Claude Code or Codex record and publish clips.

When Loom is the better choice

  • You record on Windows, iOS or Android.
  • You want a free plan.
  • Your team's video lives inside Jira and Confluence.
  • You need filler-word and silence removal, or password-protected links.

Is Tellclip a good Loom alternative?

Yes, for teams on Macs. Tellclip replaces Loom's record-and-share flow: press the hotkey, record, stop, and the link is ready. Unlike Loom, the clip already looks finished, with automatic zoom on clicks, a smooth cursor and a background, and trimming is included on every plan.

Does Loom have auto zoom?

No. As of October 2026 Loom's editing page lists automatic zoom as "coming soon", and the feature request for post-recording zoom is still open. Loom offers a record-time "highlight mouse clicks" toggle on paid desktop plans.

Tellclip adds zoom after the recording: it reads your clicks, zooms into the area you worked in, and glides back out. You can move, resize or delete each zoom on the timeline, or pin one by hand.

How much do Loom and Tellclip cost?

Tellclip Pro is $20 per seat per month, or $15 billed yearly, after a 7-day trial with no card. Every plan includes the editor, and clips carry no watermark.

Loom Business is $18 per user per month and Business + AI is $24, as of October 2026. Loom's free Starter plan allows 25 videos of up to 5 minutes at 720p, without trimming and with Loom branding. Viewing is free on both products.

How do Loom and Tellclip edit a recording?

Tellclip's editor is in the Mac app and on every plan: trim, split, cut, a zoom track, blur masks, highlights, crop, backgrounds and aspect presets, and "Record more" to append another take to the same clip.

Loom's editor is in the browser and on paid plans only, with text, box and arrow overlays.

Where do Loom and Tellclip transcribe?

Tellclip transcribes on your Mac with an on-device Whisper model, so the audio never leaves the machine before you upload. It then generates a title, summary and chapters, and the CLI can set the transcript, chapters and summary on upload.

Loom transcribes in the cloud, in more than 50 languages.

Can an AI agent use Loom or Tellclip?

Tellclip ships its own MCP server with 12 tools, organisation API keys, and the tellclip CLI from npm. The CLI starts and stops a recording, adds zooms, masks, cuts and a transcript, and uploads the clip, so Claude Code or Codex can record a demo of its own work and return a link.

Loom's tools are part of the Atlassian Rovo MCP server: an agent can read videos, transcripts and action items, and comment, share or publish. It needs a Loom workspace linked to an Atlassian Cloud site, and Loom has no open REST API.

Frequently asked questions
