Who we are

Tellclip is a screen recording and video sharing service consisting of a macOS application and the web application at tellclip.com. It is operated by MJP Sp. z o.o., ul. Zbożowa 2B lok. 12, 30-002 Kraków, Poland (KRS 0001061247, NIP 6772499706), which is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

For anything privacy-related, contact us at [email protected].

Data we collect

Account data. When you sign up we collect your name and email address. Authentication is handled by WorkOS; we do not store your password.

Content you create. Screen recordings you capture and upload, along with their transcripts, captions, AI-generated summaries, titles, comments, reactions, and workspace settings (including custom branding). Recordings are uploaded only when you capture them for sharing through Tellclip — the app does not record or upload anything in the background.

Billing data. Payments are processed by Creem, our merchant of record. We store your subscription status, plan, and seat count. We never see or store your card details.

Usage data. Tellclip sends product analytics to PostHog, hosted in the EU. From the macOS app that is feature usage, app version, and system permission status. From our website and web app it is the pages you visit and actions such as starting a download, signing up, or upgrading. We never send the content of your recordings. Our servers keep standard request logs and error reports.

Session replay. So we can see where our interface confuses people, PostHog records a reconstruction of your visit — clicks, scrolling, and page layout. Text and form input are masked in your browser before anything is sent, so clip titles, transcripts, comments, and anything you type are not captured.

Cookies. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and first-party analytics cookies set by PostHog to recognise a returning browser. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

On-device processing

Transcription runs locally on your Mac using an on-device speech model. Your audio is not sent to a third party for transcription.

AI features

When a clip has a transcript, we generate a summary and chapters using Google’s Gemini API. Only the transcript text is sent to Google for this purpose. AI agents you connect through MCP can access the clips, transcripts, and summaries of the workspaces you grant them access to.

Service providers

We share data with these processors, only to run the service:

  • Amazon Web Services (USA) — application hosting and database
  • Cloudflare — video storage and content delivery
  • WorkOS — authentication
  • Creem — payments, as merchant of record
  • Google — AI summaries of transcripts
  • PostHog (EU) — product analytics
  • Sentry — error monitoring
  • Slack — only if you connect your Slack workspace

Our servers are located in the United States. Where data leaves the EEA, we rely on the providers’ EU-approved transfer mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

Sharing and visibility

Clips are private to your workspace by default. When you create a share link, anyone with that link can view the clip and its transcript, and leave comments, without an account. You can disable sharing or delete a clip at any time.

Retention and deletion

We keep your content until you delete it or close your account. Deleting a clip removes it and its stored files from our systems. To delete your account and associated data, contact [email protected].

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal data, and you can object to or restrict certain processing. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, UODO).

Children

Tellclip is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 16.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and note the new date above. Continued use of Tellclip after a change means you accept the updated policy.
