Which is better, Supercut or Tellclip?

Tellclip, if your team records on Macs. Both replace Loom's record-and-share flow, and both have an MCP server for agents. Tellclip's clip is already polished when you stop: auto-zoom from clicks, a smooth cursor, motion blur, transparent window capture. Its CLI also lets an agent record and edit a clip, not only read one.

When Supercut is the better choice

  • Part of your team records on Windows.
  • Viewers should ask an AI assistant about a video, or answer a form inside it.
  • You need SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 on every plan.
  • You want password and expiring links, or a Loom importer.

Is Tellclip a good Supercut alternative?

For Mac teams that want fast async video that already looks polished, yes. Both replace Loom's record-and-share flow; Tellclip adds auto-zoom from clicks, a smooth cursor, motion blur and transparent window capture, and its CLI lets an agent record and edit, not only read.

Does Supercut have auto zoom?

No. As of October 2026 Supercut's editor has zoom and pan, open to all users since 2026-09-29, but you place each one by hand. Its docs describe no auto-zoom, and cursor smoothing and motion blur are not listed among its features.

Tellclip zooms from your clicks, re-renders the cursor smoothly and adds motion blur, and you can still move, resize or delete every zoom on the timeline.

Can Tellclip record a window with a transparent background?

Yes. A window recording keeps its transparent background, so the window can sit on any backdrop you pick in the editor. Supercut does not list transparent window capture among its features.

How much do Supercut and Tellclip cost?

Tellclip Pro is $20 per seat per month, or $15 billed yearly, after a 7-day trial with no card. Supercut Pro is $15 per seat per month, billed yearly; it publishes no monthly price. Neither has a free plan.

Supercut's trial is 14 days; after it, sharing, downloading and uploading pause while recording continues.

Can an AI agent use Supercut or Tellclip?

Both have an MCP server. The difference is recording: the tellclip CLI starts a take on the Mac, adds zooms, masks and cuts, and uploads it, so a coding agent can make a clip, not only read one. Tellclip's MCP server has 12 tools, including clip search by keyword and meaning, plus organisation API keys.

Supercut's MCP server searches recordings by meaning, reads playlists, analytics and form responses, and since 2026-10-16 can write titles, summaries and playlist sharing. There is also a Platform API.
