# Member roles

> What owners, admins, and members can do.

Tellclip has three organization roles: owner, admin, and member.

| Create a workspace | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Rename a workspace or change its icon | Yes | Yes | Only workspaces they created |

| Move their own clips between workspaces (Archive included) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Move a clip another member uploaded | Yes | Yes | No |
| Edit or delete a clip another member uploaded | Yes | Yes | No |
| Invite and remove members, manage billing, organization settings, brand kit, AI, Slack | Yes | Yes | No |
| Change an admin to member | Yes | No | No |
| Change a member to admin | Yes | Yes | No |

An owner or admin can change the role of another member on **Members**. You cannot change your own role there.

Admins cannot assign or remove the owner role. To transfer ownership, contact support.

## Change a role

**1. Open Settings**

Select **Settings** at the bottom of the sidebar.

**2. Open Members**

Select **Members**.

**3. Find the member**

Use **Search by name or email**.

**4. Choose the role**

Select **Member** or **Admin** in the member row.

## Expected result

Tellclip shows the new role in the member row. The new permissions apply to later actions.

## Common errors

### You cannot select a role

Your role does not permit the change.
