# Editing and screenshot support

> Correct common editor, export-preview, screenshot, and history errors.

If an edit or screenshot does not produce the expected result, use these steps.

## A screenshot shortcut opens macOS

Open Tellclip `Settings`. Select `Shortcuts`. Under `Mac screenshot keys`, select `Set as Default`.

If automatic setup fails, open `System Settings`. Turn off the macOS shortcuts under `Keyboard Shortcuts…` and `Screenshots`.

## A screenshot fails

**1. Make sure that permission is on**

Make sure that Tellclip has Screen Recording access.

**2. Make sure that the source is available**

If a selected screen is missing, reconnect it or select a different screen.

**3. Make sure that storage is available**

If the disk is full, free space and capture the screenshot again.

If Tellclip reports that preparation failed but copied the image, paste the clipboard image before another capture replaces it.

## A screenshot file is missing

Open `Recent Screenshots…` from the Tellclip menu. Then save a new copy from the history entry.

History must be on before capture. Tellclip keeps enabled history entries for 30 days, subject to its 2 GB budget.

## An edit was not saved

Reopen the recording or screenshot. Then make the edit again and use its explicit save or update action.

For a shared clip, select `Update Clip` after local edits. Your link stays the same.
