# Record your first clip

> Record a draft, make a simple edit, and create a share link.

Make a short screen recording, review it, and share a link.

## Record and share

**1. Choose the screen**

In the capture window, select **Screen**.

**2. Open the editor after recording**

Turn off **Instant mode** with the lightning button.

**3. Choose your inputs**

Choose a camera and microphone, or set either input to **Off**.

**4. Choose system audio**

If the recording must include sound from the Mac, turn on **System audio**.

**5. Start recording**

Click **Record**. If the countdown is enabled, wait for it to finish.

**6. Stop recording**

Click **Stop recording** in the capture window. Tellclip opens the local draft in the editor.

**7. Make an edit**

In the editor, select a background or cut an unwanted section.

**8. Create the clip link**

Click **Share Clip**. Tellclip uploads the clip and copies its reusable link.

> Your recording stays in **Recent Clips**. A local item without an upload has the **· Draft** label.

## Common errors

### The editor does not open

Make sure that **Instant mode** is off before you start the recording.

### The camera or microphone does not record

Make sure that the input is on and has permission in macOS.

### Sharing waits for sign-in

Complete the Tellclip sign-in window. If Tellclip requests it, run the share action again.
