# Keyboard shortcuts

> Use current shortcuts for capture, editing, screenshots, and playback.

You can change global Tellclip shortcuts in `Settings` under `Shortcuts`.

## Start a capture

| Action | Default shortcut |
| - | - |
| Record screen | `⌥⇧⌘1` |
| Record window | `⌥⇧⌘2` |
| Record area | `⌥⇧⌘3` |
| Show or hide the palette | `⌥⌘T` |
| Stop recording | `⇧⌘Return` |
| Pause or resume | `⇧⌘P` |

## Capture a screenshot

| Action | Default shortcut |
| - | - |
| Capture screen | `⇧⌘3` |
| Capture area | `⇧⌘4` |
| Capture window | `⇧⌘5` |

macOS uses these screenshot shortcuts by default. In Tellclip `Settings`, select `Set as Default` under `Mac screenshot keys`.

## Edit a clip

| Action | Shortcut |
| - | - |
| Play or pause | `Space` |
| Cut at the playhead | `C` |
| Split at the playhead | `S` |
| Add a zoom | `Z` |
| Delete the selection | `Delete` |
| Undo | `⌘Z` |
| Redo | `⇧⌘Z` or `⌘Y` |
| Move one frame | `←` or `→` |
| Move ten frames | `⇧←` or `⇧→` |
| Zoom the timeline in | `⌘+` |
| Zoom the timeline out | `⌘-` |
| Fit the timeline | `⌘0` |
| Export | `⇧⌘E` |

## Edit a screenshot

| Select, Arrow, Line | `V`, `A`, `L` |
| Rectangle, Ellipse, Pen | `R`, `E`, `P` |
| Text, Pixelate, Crop | `T`, `B`, `C` |
| Toggle shape fill | `F` |
| Apply a crop | `Return` |
| Delete the selected annotation | `Delete` |
| Copy | `⌘C` |
| Save | `⌘S` |
| Discard or move the screenshot to Trash | `⌘Delete` |
| Undo or redo | `⌘Z` or `⇧⌘Z` |

## Watch a clip

| Action | Shortcut |

| Play or pause | `Space` or `K` |
| Go back or forward 10 seconds | `J` or `L` |
| Go back or forward 5 seconds | `←` or `→` |
| Decrease or increase speed | `<` or `>` |
| Mute, captions, fullscreen | `M`, `C`, `F` |
