# Choose a camera and audio

> Add a camera, microphone, system audio, and camera background blur.

Choose the inputs in the capture window before you start recording.

macOS must allow Camera permission for a camera overlay. It must allow Microphone permission for voice audio.

## Choose a camera

**1. Open the camera menu**

Click the arrow on the **Camera** control.

**2. Choose the device**

Select a camera, or select **Off**.

If the camera is on and available, the camera preview appears in the capture window.

To blur the camera background, turn on **Background Blur** in the same menu.

>
> The capture preview does not show camera background blur. Tellclip applies the blur to the final recording.

## Choose a microphone

**1. Open the microphone menu**

Click the arrow on the **Microphone** control.

**2. Choose the input**

Select the system default, a named microphone, or **Off**.

## Capture system audio

Click **System audio** to turn sound from the Mac on or off.

## Common errors

### Tellclip asks to record without a microphone

The camera is on and the microphone is off. Select **Continue Without Microphone**, or cancel and choose a microphone.

### A device does not appear

Connect the device before you open its menu. Make sure that macOS allows the matching permission.
