# Use the editor

> Review a recording and find the main editing controls.

The editor opens after a standard recording. It keeps the editable recording on your Mac.

## Find the editor controls

| Area | Purpose |
| - | - |
| Preview | Shows the current frame and visual edits. |
| Timeline | Cuts sections and adds zoom ranges. |
| **Style** | Changes the aspect ratio, background, and framing. |
| **Cursor** | Changes cursor behavior, click effects, and zoom. |
| **Camera** | Changes a recorded camera overlay. |
| **Sound** | Changes recorded microphone and system audio. |
| Top bar | Applies presets, exports, and shares the clip. |

If the recording includes a camera track, the **Camera** tab appears. If audio exists, the **Sound** tab appears.

## Make and review an edit

Drag the playhead to move through the recording. Press `Space` to play or pause.

Select the inspector tab for the change. Then change the required control.

If you need to undo an edit, press `Command-Z`. You can also use the undo button in the top bar.

When the recording is ready, click **Share Clip** or **Export**.

Tellclip saves each editor change with the local recording. The preview and exported video use the same visual settings.

## Open a recent recording

**1. Open Recent Clips**

Open **Recent Clips** from the Tellclip menu-bar menu.

**2. Choose the recording**

Click a row, or use **Open in Editor** from its menu.

An item without an upload shows **· Draft**. Uploaded items do not show an uploaded label.

## Common errors

### A tab is not available

The recording does not contain the required camera or audio track. Record that input in a new take.

### A shared clip does not include recent edits

Click **Update Clip**. Tellclip replaces the clip content, and your link stays the same.
